Review: Even Now, Philippa Hanna

Monday, 16 November 2015

Fans of Philippa Hanna (me included) have been waiting for what feels like forever for her newest single. After jetting off to Nashville and completing a sell-out tour with Britain's Got Talent winners Collabro, the Sheffield singer's career is going from strength-to-strength.

'Even Now' is very different to what we usually hear from Philippa, but still embodies everything that we know and love about her as an artist. While previous songs have had a strong folksy vibe, 'Even Now' features a much more contemporary sound. But I love that the focus remains on Philippa's vocal, which sounds as amazing as ever.

Philippa is known as a songwriter with Christian influences and themes within her music of faith and self-love. However, she always executes these beliefs in a way which everyone can relate to. 'Even Now' is no exception, with lyrics telling of having faith, whether that faith be in God, karma, the universe, or simply those you love to get you through the times when we are broken, hurt, or lost.

When I first listened to 'Even Now', I felt incredibly uplifted, inspired and reminded of something which is so easy to forget when life throws difficulties in your way. 'Even Now' has made it very quickly on to my 'Cheer Up Playlist' (yes, I have one!) and I know that it will soon become my go-to song when I need a little lift.

Philippa, this one was definitely worth the wait.

'Even Now' is out on 20th November 2015. Have a look at the video here.

You can find out more about Philippa on her website or she's on Twitter @Philippahanna.

Have you heard this single? What do you think?

Love,
Sian Kathrine xo
